Build Green With Recycled Glass

TriVitro® Awarded for Outstanding Environmental Stewardship

TriVitro® Corporation of Kent, Washington was recently presented with a Green Globe Award as a Leader in Market Development for Recyclable Materials, in recognition of its outstanding efforts in creating markets for recyclable materials and products. Presented by King County Executive Ron Sims, this award is considered the County's most prestigious honor for outstanding achievement in environmental stewardship.

For almost ten years, TriVitro
® has been converting low-value scrap glass from King County's recycling programs into a variety of useful, value-added, and environmentally beneficial products. Included among those products are: Industrial blasting abrasives for surface preparation and cleaning; crushed glass filtration media which is used in swimming pools throughout the Pacific Northwest; tumbled glass for home, gift, garden and craft markets throughout the country; and their newest product line—colored glass aggregate for use in terrazzo flooring, tiles, counter tops, concrete pavers, wall finishes and exposed aggregate surfaces. A few examples of this TriVitro's® glass aggregate usage in our area can be seen in the floors of the Seattle/Tacoma International Airport, the Washington state Convention and Trade Center, and the "Mariner's Compass" entry rotunda floor at Safeco Field.

TriVitro
® was incorporated in 1996 after several years of research and development in the fine processing of recycled glass. Their mission is to develop innovative, value-added, and environmentally responsible uses for recycled glass in partnership with their customers, suppliers and employees. Now in their third-phase plant, the company is well-equipped to process thousands of tons of glass per year (over 225,000 tons of recycled glass processed to date), and well-regarded as a manufacturer of clean, consistent, sized glass aggregates for a wide variety of markets.
